Wildlife Park
We stayed here in Texas for Christmas in 2010, so we decided to drive to Houston (spur of the moment) and visit our friends the Wegners. Josh and Ryan went to graduate school together at BYU. On December 23rd they took us to this awesome (rundown) animal wildlife park. It was pretty cool. The kids had a blast! They were able to pet all sorts of animals! We went on basically a tracker ride and went all around the park to see the different animals. We each had our own bucket of food to be able to feed the animals. The animals would come right up to the trailer we were in and just start eating out of our buckets! It was sooo cool, but a little scary at the same time. After all, these are wild animals and we didn't have anything really protecting us from them. There was a HUGE cow-like animal (I can't remember what is is called right now) that has massive horns. It came right up to us and was eating from our buckets!! We were all a little shocked seeing one swift movement from this animal seemed like it could result in all of our deaths! We definitely felt like irresponsible parents allowing our children to be so close to such an animal, but we paid to enter this place...it should be safe, right? Needless to say, no one was hurt and it has just made for a great story now. The kids have asked multiple times to go back. It was a really cool experience - who knows...we may be even more irresponsible some day and take some friends and THEIR children to enjoy the fun!
