Easter

Growing up in my house we always did the Easter Egg Hunt on the Saturday before Easter. Last year we did our family egg hunt on Monday, the day after Easter and the girls had a great time and didn't seem to mind, so we did it the same way again this year. I figure we don't do our egg stuff on Sunday anyway since we focus on celebrating the true meaning of Easter on the sabbath, so what difference does it make if the egg hunt and Easter Bunny stuff is the day before or the day after? I know it may sound weird, but the kids don't seem to mind and we can get all of the Easter stuff for half price! The girls know that the family night before Easter we dye eggs and the family night after Easter we do the hunt...fun family nights!

I remember doing the egg hunt in my back yard and inside the house growing up so we thought we'd try it outside this year...not the best idea for hard-boiled/dyed eggs in Texas. The egg coloring ran all over and got everywhere!! The girls still had fun though. They each looked for the hard-boiled eggs with their initial on them and then found their specific color of plastic eggs. Josh went around and helped Megan and I took pictures and video the whole time. Jake slept through the festivities but he would've had no clue what was going on anyway. Needless to say family night treat was from their Easter baskets! We haven't ever really done the whole "Easter Bunny" thing so the girls know that Josh and I hide the eggs. We have wild bunny rabbits in our back yard all of the time so Josh did make up a fun story about how there were a lot of those "Easter bunnies" and they dropped a bunch of eggs in our yard. "The backyard is a mess and we all need to go out and clean it up" he told them. They thought it was pretty silly and fun. Josh always does such a good job with good stories for the kids. It was a fun activity and it will be even more fun next year when Jake gets to participate!
The picture of Jake with the Easter bunny with Ally was taken on Easter Sunday. Ally had gotten an Easter Bunny on her hunt at Fritz park and wanted to let Jake hold it since it was Easter. The other one was of Jake after the hunt...this was his first time in shorts! Such a cutie!
