Every year our town holds an Easter Egg Hunt and the girls have a blast. We weren't able to go last year, so they were really excited for it this year. I really wanted to go, but we couldn't bring Jake out so I stayed home with him and Josh took the girls. It was early in the morning before conference so they were on a sugar high for the rest of the day! They split the kids into different age groups and spread a ton of candy all over the field. The first group was Megan's age group (0-3) and parents were able to go out and help their kiddos. Josh took her out and was able to get some cute pictures of her gathering her loot. She had a great time. Josh told Ally and Annalise to stay together and to not move from where they were standing (there were a ton of people there and they could easily get lost. Ally and Lisey did such a great job. They didn't move!
Ally told me that some lady that they didn't know looked at them and said that they looked sad. She told them to come over by her. Ally said she didn't know why the lady thought that they looked sad because they weren't...they were just watching. Anyway, Ally told me that she was a stranger so she didn't listen to her and just turned away and did as their dad had told them. I was so proud of them for listening to Josh and staying where he told them to. I was even more proud that they didn't listen to a stranger. When Josh came back with Megan the field was filled again with candy in preparation for the 4-6 year old hunt. In that one parents were not aloud to go out with their kids so Josh told Ally and Annalise to stay together.
They did a great job at first but then Ally started going too fast and Annalise got left in the dust. Annalise couldn't find Ally and she panicked and started to cry. Josh was a ways away form them (the field is pretty big) and so had to run out there and get Annalise. He had lost track of Ally in paying attention to Annalise and it made him nervous. Luckily right before he went out to get Annalise, Ally had come back so he left her there with Megan and ran to get Lise. Poor Lisey. He (and I later did too) had an important talk with Ally about staying together. Taking care of your sister is much more important than getting candy. Hopefully she got the message!
The girls ended up with a ton of candy and so they were really excited. There were a lot of characters dressed up for the kids to take pictures with and they thought that was a pretty fun thing. It sure is a fun thing the town puts on for the kiddos. Hopefully we can all go as a family next year.
