Snow Day!

It hardly ever snows in Texas! We were all so excited to have snow come this year. There wasn't a ton of it, but there was enough to play, get freezing cold and have a wonderful time! There was an early release from school and even a 3 hour delay for the next day! The girls were just thrilled! While Ally was at school Megan and Annalise played outside all morning and had a blast together. They got so cold and wet! We don't have any snow cloths that fit them anymore since we have lived in Texas for almost 4 years. We did still have some winter hats and a few gloves that were too small, but we made do. Since Ally was coming home from school a little early Megan and Annalise came inside for some hot chocolate and to rest up for when Ally came home since we all knew she would want to play outside as well went she came home. Megan and Annalise loved their hot chocolate! My mom threw their clothes in the dryer so they would be warm and dry for their next round in the snow.
When Ally came home she was bouncing off the walls! She ran directly from the front door to the back door ready to play outside. We had to hold her off for a bit until we could get a hat and gloves on everyone, but boy was she excited!

All of the girls had a great time playing outside. The trampoline was a lot of fun for them since the snow had piled on it. They of course wanted to make a snowman, but were having a hard time. Grandma was great and went out and helped them. They thought it was the coolest thing in the world! They had raisins for the eyes and a carrot for the nose. They used an ear warmer for a scarf and one of Jake's little hats for the snowman's head since he was so small. It was the cutest little snowman ever! After Grandma came in they went to town making lots of mini snowmen; they had such a great time. I wished I could be out there playing with them, but there was no way I was up to that yet. Grandma was a trooper!

When we told Megan that I used to eat the snow when I was a little kid she thought that was just disgusting! She had a hard time believing me. Eventually she tried eating the snow herself and then she couldn't stop! It was so cute! Her poor little hands were so cold and red! Besides eating snow and building snowmen the girls loved throwing snow up into the air and making snowballs and throwing them at each other. There were a few tears from snowballs thrown in the face, but all in all they had some fun "snowball fights."

To celebrate the fun snow day Josh came home early and went outside with the girls to make a BIG snowman! There wasn't a ton of snow and it was hard to make a really big one and have it stand up, so it looks a little strange and not really like a typical snowman, but it was tall and the girls were able to have a great time with their dad. I was sleeping at the time and didn't even know all of this was going on, so unfortunately we do not have any pictures except for the lone snowman ones taken after I awoke. After all of the playing was done for the day the girls of course came in for hot chocolate again and warmed up. Their clothes were soaking wet, but they had a great time. The next morning before school (there was a 3 hour delay) the girls played outside all morning again in what was left of the snow. I was so happy that it snowed and that the girls were able to get to play and make snowmen and have a wonderful time. This was Megan's first time being able to play in the snow. I grew up with snow and always loved it and while I do not miss living in it at all, I have wanted my kids to be able to experience it and have fun with it. It was a great couple of days!
